Blu-ray Disc Increased in Sales
According to the midyear report, The Digital Entertainment Group and Blu-ray Disc have a remarkable progress. DEG’s business reports shown that Blu-ray Disc which was displayed at the press conference held at Consumer Electronics Show last January, as well as it strengthens the data presented by the Adams Media Research just this spring said that the product doubled its sales during the initial quarter of 2009 compared to the initial quarter of 2008.

As for DEG, consumers who are patronizing prerecorded entertainment including DVD, digital distribution and Blu-ray Disc during the initial half of 2009 was higher by 3.9 percent compared to the previous year’s figure. Blu-ray disc have increased at the period when HDTV infiltration has risen by 13 percent beginning the final of 2008.
Sales of the Blu-ray players also raised by 25 percent and the hardware costs carried on to decreased. The success of Blu-ray market mirrors the vigorous trend as well which is noticed at movies. Figures from DEG noted that American households today have over 2 million stand alone player devices. This brings the sum of installed Blu-ray based players counting in Sony PS3 consoles to 11 million. Over 40 million Blu-ray disc titles have been purchased today in US alone, and there are over 1600 titles which are still available. There are also 190 titles tendered for BD-live content.
